The Mole looked up at the Horse and asked quietly,
“Have you ever felt lost?”
“Often,” said the Horse.
“But sometimes, being lost is just the start of being found.”
The Mole tilted his head.
“Found by who?”
“By yourself,” the Horse said. “Sometimes we spend so long trying to be who others need us to be, we forget who we are underneath it all.”
They walked a little while in silence.
“But what if I don’t like what I find?” whispered the Mole.
The Horse stopped and turned to him.
“Then be gentle,” he said. “You’re still becoming. Transformation isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you’ve always been.”
The Mole smiled.
“That sounds hard.”
“It is,” said the Horse. “But you don’t have to do it alone.”
